Address Signs

Can emergency responders find your home in your time of need?
McKenzie Fire & Rescue is concerned about locating district residents during their time of need.  Firefighters, Police and medical personnel often find themselves frustrated when arriving to find several mailboxes at the end of a driveway, unmarked addressed or addresses that are difficult to read in the dark.  Proper identification of your residence may be the difference in saving lives and property.

Your fire department offers a 6"x12" address marker with reflective numbers.  The sign is double sided and a pole is provided for mounting.  To order your address marker, click here.  Complete the form and submit it to us. You can also stop by our administrative office at the Walterville Station or give us a call 541-746-6312.

Life Jacket Lending Program

Picture
Life jacket, life vest, Personal Flotation Device (PFD) - whatever you call it, it only works if you wear it!

McKenzie Fire & Rescue and the McKenzie River Guides Association proudly support the Life Jacket Lending Program.  With the primary goal of keeping all young people safe around recreational water, the life jacket program has been a huge success with the McKenzie River community and its many visitors.

Life jackets in all sizes are available for the day at the following locations:  Mather's Market, Ray's Market, McKenzie Feed & Tackle, Leaburg Country Store, Vida Community Market, Wayfarer Resort, Eagle Rock Lodge and Harbick's Country Store.  All jackets are collected, cleaned, sanitized, fabric protected and stored each fall.  With the opening of fishing season in April the jackets are distributed to participating businesses.

The life jackets are lent on an honor system.  Please return them when you are finished on the river so others can use them too.

Chimney Brushes

To help district residents keep their chimneys and/or stovepipes clean and free of debris, McKenzie Fire & Rescue provides a Chimney Brush Lending Program.  Brushes in multiple sizes and rods are available for loan at no charge at the Walterville Station during normal business hours.

Toys for Tots

McKenzie Fire & Rescue has a long tradition of supporting the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toy for Tots Program.  The Fire Department is your local point of contact for the collection of toys for needy children each holiday season.  The new, unwrapped toys are dropped off at the collection receptacle located at the Walterville Station.

While the Marines organize, coordinate and manage the program, the ultimate success depends on the support of the local community and the generosity of the people who donate toys.

Blood Drive

McKenzie Fire & Rescue hosts a community blood drive multiple times throughout the year.  Lane Memorial Blood Bank’s (LMBB) Bloodmobile comes to the Walterville Fire Station from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM to accommodate local residents.  If you wish to drop by and donate a pint, call the administrative office at 541-746-6312 to schedule a donation time.

Each donation is worth its weight in gold and will save lives.  Thanks to advances in medical technology the preparation of blood components enables more than one patient to benefit from the life-giving properties of blood.   To donate blood, YOU MUST:  Be in good health, be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and eat a meal with protein & carbohydrates 2-4 hours before donating.

Make the choice to donate.  LMBB's Bloodmobile will be at the Walterville Station on the following Thursdays in 2012:  February 2nd , May 3rd, August 2nd , and November 1st.
